About

Built by someone who has worked freight.
Built for the people still working it.

LTL freight is a complicated business. Rates change without warning. Carriers quote one number and invoice another. Accessorial charges appear on invoices that no one approved. And when you ask which carrier actually performs on your lanes, nobody has a straight answer.

Most shippers have adapted by calling the same carrier rep they have always called, logging into two portals and picking the cheaper one, and accepting that the invoice will probably be a little different from the quote. That is not a strategy. That is a habit built around the absence of better tools.

LanePilot exists because small and mid-sized shippers deserve the same freight intelligence that enterprise logistics teams have had for years. Not a watered-down version. Not a tool that requires a dedicated IT department to implement. The real thing — live rates from up to 10 carriers per query drawn from a network of 135, a carrier scorecard built from your actual shipment history, invoice audit that catches billing errors before you pay them, and AI that gets more accurate with every load you run.

“Stop pulling quotes. Start making decisions.”

That is not a tagline. It is a description of what freight management should have looked like for the last twenty years.

LanePilot is a SaaS platform built specifically for shippers running 20 to 250 LTL loads a month — the manufacturers, distributors, and growing e-commerce operations that are too sophisticated for a phone call and a spreadsheet but too lean to justify an enterprise TMS and the team to run it.

It gets better the longer you use it. That is the point. The carrier scorecard learns your lanes. The invoice audit gets more precise as it accumulates your billing history. The rate alerts become more targeted as your shipment patterns become clear. Your data stays in LanePilot and works for you — not for a broker, not for a carrier, for you.

Why Erie, Pennsylvania

LanePilot is headquartered in Erie, PA — and that is not incidental. Erie sits at the intersection of major freight corridors connecting the Great Lakes region, the Northeast, and the Midwest. The businesses that need LanePilot most — regional manufacturers, industrial distributors, building materials companies, auto parts suppliers — are concentrated in exactly this corridor.

Building a freight intelligence platform from Erie is a deliberate choice. The shippers we serve are not in Silicon Valley. They are in cities like this one — mid-sized industrial markets where the freight moves every day and the tools have not kept up with the work. We understand that because we are part of it.

Aaron Brown
LanePilot Technologies LLC

Aaron Brown spent more than a decade working in LTL freight — not in an advisory capacity, not adjacent to the industry, but inside it, at both national carriers and regional operations. He has worked the rate desks, watched carriers quote one number and invoice another, and seen firsthand how much recoverable money small and mid-sized shippers leave on the table because they have no systematic way to compare, track, or challenge what they are being charged.

The idea for LanePilot did not come from a market research report. It came from a conversation — the kind that happens in freight when someone describes a problem they have had for years and assumes it is just part of the business. The problem was the complete absence of carrier performance data at the lane level. Shippers knew their carriers by name and relationship. They did not know which ones actually delivered on time, which ones had the highest rate of invoice discrepancies, or whether the rate they were paying was competitive for that specific lane on that specific freight class. That information existed. It just was not organized in a way that a shipping manager at a mid-sized manufacturer could access and use.

Aaron built LanePilot to fix that. The platform connects directly to live carrier rate engines, builds lane-specific carrier scorecards from real shipment data, and applies AI to the parts of freight management that have historically required either expensive enterprise software or a dedicated logistics team to do manually.

“Small shippers are not unsophisticated. They are underserved. There is a significant difference, and it is one the freight industry has been slow to recognize.”

LanePilot is Aaron's bet that the freight industry is ready for a tool that works the way shippers actually work — plain-English queries, immediate results, no manual data entry, no consultant required. Built in Erie. Built for the businesses that keep the freight moving.

What we are building toward

The long-term goal is straightforward: give every mid-market shipper in North America access to freight intelligence that was previously available only to companies with dedicated logistics teams and enterprise software budgets. That means accurate live rates, honest carrier performance data, automated invoice audit, and tools that get more valuable the longer they are used.

LanePilot is not trying to replace your carrier relationships. It is trying to make sure those relationships are built on accurate information — on what your carriers are actually doing on your lanes, not on what their sales rep says they can do.

Every shipment a LanePilot member runs adds to a growing body of lane-specific carrier performance data. Over time, that data becomes the most accurate LTL performance benchmark available to the shippers who need it most. That is the product we are building. It gets better with every load.
